Sacristans serve the church with special duties and responsibilities at each Mass and, under the direction of the clergy, undertake the overall preparation of liturgical seasonal celebrations. The sacristan works graciously and lovingly behind the scenes to make sure the church furnishings, liturgical vessels and decorative objects are kept in good condition, and to ensure that the things necessary for worship, such as the hosts, duly authorized wine, proper cloths, incense and coals are always available. Sacristans meet once a month to learn more about the essentials of being a good sacristan so they may implement what is learned by serving the community with a heartfelt respect for the Body and Blood of Christ.
